About Church Council

The church council is the presiding governance body of St. John’s who derive their authority from the Voters’ Assembly of St. John’s.  The principal duty of the Church Council is to coordinate all programs and activities of the various church boards of the Congregation. It shall have power to act on behalf of the congregation between meetings of the Voters Assembly. The church council is comprised of members as designated in the by-laws of the constitution of the church.  This includes the four elected officers of the congregation (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer), the chairperson of each standing board; members of the Pastoral office; the school Principal (when active) and up to two members-at-large.  The church council meets monthly to conduct business and meetings are chaired by the Chairman of the Congregation.  Per article 7.4.1 of St. Johns’ Constitution, additional appointed positions within the Church Council may be designated on an annual basis as needed.
